My Plans, His Timing

There are a lot of things in my life that I thought would have happened by now that haven't happened. I thought I'd have more children by now. I now know that two biological children is all I will birth. I thought our finances would be in a different place by now. I now know that living on one income continues to be sustainable for us, glory be to God. I thought I'd be a famous singer by now. I now know that what I am currently doing in my life is exactly what I have been called to do.

You get the pattern here? I had all these plans for my life that haven't exactly happened yet or will never happen. That's hard, and for a season it made me callous towards the Lord. Angry even. My questions to Him ranged from "Lord why them and not me?" to "I'm living for you Lord, don't you see that? why are you making me wait?" Ya'll the game of comparison can be a dangerous one. Somehow, I found myself in a rematch of it often. I had to realize that my plans and the Lord's timing were not the same thing. I came to find out that His timing is so much better.

In the book of John chapter 11 we learn about Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. However, that's not all we learn. Lazarus' sisters Mary and Martha had sent word to Jesus that Lazarus was sick. I imagine in their mines they expected Jesus to come quick and heal their brother, His friend. Thats not how it happened though. Jesus took 3 days to get to Lazarus. By the time he reached him Lazarus had been dead for 4 days. Mary was angry with Jesus once he arrived and didn't even greet Him when He got there. Once He was there, He performed a miracle and rose Lazarus from the dead.

You see it would have been easy for Jesus to simply heal His friend. But the Lord had a bigger plan. He needed His disciples and all others to truly believe in Him. Now the healing could have done it but think about the glory God received from raising someone from the dead. Martha and Mary had a plan, with all good intentions. Jesus just simply had a bigger plan. Sometimes waiting on the Lord can be so frustrating, but let's look at it from a different angle. Waiting on the Lord can also

be so rewarding. In His kindness He doesn't always give us what we want when we want it because He has something better.

If you are still in the waiting period of your life, don't give up. God sees you, He hears you, and He has plans for you.

“I say this because I know the plans that I have for you.” This message is from the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬ ‭ERV‬‬

Be Blessed!
