My daughter hates making her bed. If she can find a way to get out of it, she would. Now for context she is 8-year-old, so the behavior is... appropriate lol. I mean what child wants to make their bed? Despite her disdain she accomplishes it every day. However, today we had to talk about it.

Every so often we have to have the 'Why do I have to make my bed again?' talk.

The one where I explain why taking care of ourselves (she hates having to brush her teeth as well) and our belongings is important.

Now sometimes we don't have the time in the morning to have these talks, because we have to get out of the door. Those mornings I'm not the most patient or graceful with my responses. And it's on those mornings when I'm thinking to myself, 'Lord, why do we have to keep having this same talk?!'

His answer: 'the same reason you and I have to have the same talks. And when we do I extend grace to you and have patience with you. Every time.'

Well, that answer just did me in! Because The Lord was right. Time after time, after time I'll bring the same things to Him and He never is short with me. Never impatient or ugly in responses, like I can be with my 8-year-old.

So, while I ponder that conviction, I welcome the encouragement that it also brings. Encouraging be to more patient with not just my children, but with the world. I can't even imagine where I would be without the Lord's patience.

The bible teaches us, in the book of Galatians, that a fruit of the spirit is longsuffering, which is another word for patience. As believers that means we have it, we just have to choose to operate in it.

May we all choose to be patient with one another, always.

Be Blessed!

" But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control."

Galatians 5:22,23
